Highlights

Generally stable conditions exist, and large avalanches are unlikely. Expect to find small pockets loose dry snow sluffs in steep terrain and fresh wind slabs 2-4 inches deep. Continue practicing safe travel habits: make a plan for the day, carry the right gear, and communicate with your group.

Avalanche Discussion

Around 2-4 inches of new snow Wednesday did not increase avalanche danger much, especially the northern portion of our advisory area that saw less snow. 2-4 inches of new snow with light to moderate winds may have formed small wind slabs, 2"-potentially 8" thick at upper elevations near ridgelines on top of weak snow/facets that have formed during a prolonged dry spell on the surface and as well as within the upper snowpack.  Loose snow or sluffs should be small, but may run with you in steep terrain. Sluff management may be prudent in exposed steep terrain with traps like cliffs and gullies...The snowpack is generally stable deeper, and people are exploring steep, alpine terrain.

It's easy to get sloppy—so don't. Continue to minimize your group's exposure to potential avalanche hazards, ideally traveling one at a time through steep terrain.
