Soldier & Wood River Valley Mtns

You are most likely to trigger avalanches in the wetter, western portion of this zone at upper elevations in the Soldier Mountains and South Fork of the Boise drainage. If you're heading to these snowier areas, refer to the Sawtooth & Western Smoky Mtns forecast. Most slopes in this zone lack enough snow to produce avalanches. Travel in the mountains surrounding the Wood River Valley is difficult, and observations are limited.

Daily Avalanche Forecasts with danger ratings will begin when access improves. 

If there's enough snow to keep your skis or sled off the ground, there's enough snow to be thinking about avalanches. While you're unlikely to trigger slides large enough to bury people, even small avalanches can have severe consequences when snow cover is thin. Picture where an avalanche could carry you—through trees or rocks, into creeks— before committing to skiing, riding, or crossing steep slopes.
