Kananaskis.
Fresh snow and strong winds are creating tricky avalanche conditions right now. If snowfalls continue throughout the night, avalanche danger may trend towards HIGH.
Light snow will continue over the next 24hrs but accumulation is forecast to only be around another 5cm. Temperatures are cooling back to more seasonal but unfortunately, winds are forecast to continue out of the Sw in the moderate to strong range.
No new slides were observed today but observations were limited.
Another 10-12cm has fallen over the past 24hrs under the influence of a strong SW flow at the upper elevations. All of the new snow (up to 25cm) has been building new windslabs up to 40cm thick in alpine areas that are reactive to skier traffic. The basal layers are still a concern especially in areas that have not previously released.
