Observers the day before yesterday found that the snowpack structure remains poor in this zone. The reported collapses are a sure sign that the weak layers deep in the snowpack continue to be a concern. The overlying slab is gaining strength by the day but triggering a slab up to three feet thick remains possible, especially on windloaded aspects. Very steep slopes, especially those with signs of wind loading, will be of most concern today.
