When assessing or choosing terrain consider the consequences of getting caught in an avalanche right now with so many rocks near the surface.
Snowpack Summary
Snow is starting to stick in the high-country. There is approximately 60cms of settled snow on the ground in the Alpine which tapers drastically to dirt at 1600m. Recent winds have likely created pockets of windslab in Alpine and treeline lee features.
Expect to find hidden rocks and logs underneath the snow. Glaciers will have poor coverage with just enough snow to hide small crevasses.
