Weather Forecast

Mainly cloudy on Tuesday with light flurries. The morning will start off at -10c and warm up to -5c in the alpine. Winds are forecast to be light from the NW.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches have been observed.

Snowpack Summary

The forecasters took a tour into the Tent Bowl area today. The hard wind slab showed up in the small trees at 2200m and ski crampons had to be used. The wind slab in the Bowl was so hard you could not see where you travelled either going up or coming down. Even with ski crampons on, the travel was challenging. If you fell in steeper terrain, it might take a while before you slowed down. It is difficult to predict where you could trigger an avalanche right now but most likely in thin rocky areas or lee features.

Terrain and Travel

  • Be careful with wind slabs, especially in steep, unsupported and/or convex terrain features.
  • Watch for areas of hard wind slab on alpine features.
