Avalanche Activity

Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind. 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall from the afternoon above approximately 1800 m.

In the afternoon mostly small wind slabs will form above approximately 2300 m, in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found especially in extremely steep terrain. They are to be evaluated with care and prudence in terrain where there is a danger of falling. Late morning: In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

Some snow will fall on Tuesday in some localities. The small quantity of fresh snow and the wind slabs that are forming during the snowfall will be deposited on the favourable surface of an old snowpack in all aspects. The fresh wind slabs are mostly shallow and can be released in isolated cases at their margins. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to slight moistening of the snowpack in some cases, in particular at intermediate altitudes. The old snowpack is largely stable. Less snow than usual is lying. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations.

Tendency

In some localities new snow at intermediate altitudes: Gradual increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches in particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation.
