The wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. The wind slabs have formed in gullies and bowls in all aspects and generally at high altitudes. On very steep slopes individual small avalanches occurred naturally.
As a consequence of the moderate to strong wind, the snow drift accumulations will increase in size on Christmas Day. The near-surface layers of the snowpack can be released over a wide area by individual winter sport participants especially on wind-loaded slopes.
The conditions remain mostly favourable. As a consequence of rising temperatures and the northerly foehn wind, the snowpack will consolidate during the next two days.
