Highlights

New snow and wind slabs in high Alpine regions. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the wind slabs will increase in size additionally. Gliding avalanches can be released at any time of day or night.

Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs in high Alpine regions. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the wind slabs will increase in size additionally. Gliding avalanches can be released at any time of day or night.

The fresh snow and the large wind slabs represent the main danger. As a consequence of the snowfall slab avalanches are possible, even large ones in isolated cases.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be unstable in particular on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with the old snowpack.
