The fresh snow of yesterday and the wind slabs represent the main danger.
The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. The fresh wind slabs can be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. The avalanche danger should be investigated very thoroughly in the relevant locality. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in very isolated cases by winter sport participants.
The soft wind slabs have formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. The new snow is lying on a crust in all aspects above approximately 2400 m. The old snowpack is faceted. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies in particular above approximately 2300 m. In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
Slight increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches as a consequence of warming.
