Avalanche Activity

Increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses. In particular on very steep sunny slopes moist avalanches can slide on the ground. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be started and concluded very early.

Snowpack Structure

Since Friday the weather has been exceptionally warm. The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack. Above approximately 2000 m there is still a very large amount of snow.

Tendency

Decrease in avalanche danger as the temperature drops.
