Highlights

A mostly favourable avalanche situation will prevail.

Avalanche Activity

A mostly favourable avalanche situation will prevail.

The small wind slabs can be released in isolated cases on extremely steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Caution is to be exercised on near-ridge slopes, as well as in gullies and bowls. The avalanche prone locations are rare and are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of a moderate to strong wind from southwesterly directions, small wind slabs formed since Wednesday in isolated cases, especially on near-ridge north and east facing slopes at elevated altitudes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. On steep sunny slopes below the tree line hardly any snow is lying. The spring-like weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to softening of the snowpack also above the tree line.

Tendency

Low avalanche danger will prevail.
