Forecast Snow Stability: Overnight, there will be a brief period of wet snow instability affecting existing localised areas of moderately bonded windslab. Steep summit slopes, gully exits and coire rims on North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres will mostly be affected. Better stability through the day generally, but fresh isolated pockets of unstable windslab will build in same steep wind sheltered locations, The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain at all levels in the early hours of the morning will turn showery through the day, wintry above 500 metres. Southerly winds will strengthen overnight with severe gales at summit level, veering to become strong Westerly by daybreak. The freezing level will briefly rise well above the summits overnight, lowering to around 550 metres during daylight hours. Observed Weather Influences: Showers in the morning, some heavy and wintry above 700 metres, easing by early afternoon to give some bright spells. A strong North-West wind also eased by the afternoon and the freezing level hovered around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Although the snowpack has good stability in most locations, there are localised areas of moderately bonded windslab persisting on steep wind sheltered terrain, on mainly North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Wind exposed ridges and summits are scoured and icy in places. Little snow exists below 400 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
