Forecast Snow Stability: The patchy snow will be generally well bonded and stable. Shallow accumulations of windslab will be present in wind sheltered locations such as steep burn lines and gully tops on North-West to North-East aspects above 1000 metres. Distribution and depth of these will be generally avoidable, accumulations will not be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Light precipitation will ease during the evening to give a dry but cloudy day. Light, generally Northerly winds. Freezing level lowering from 1100 metres overnight to reach 800 metres by late afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Light precipitation, falling as snow showers initially above 800 metres, then above 900 metres during the afternoon. Strong South-South-Westerly winds. Freezing level rising to around 1000 metres later in the period. ObservedSnowStability: Generally patchy snow cover with deeper, stable accumulations in wind sheltered locations. Shallow new deposits have formed on mainly North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres. Wind sheltered locations, such as gully tops, above 1000 metres are holding the most new snow. Distribution and depth have yet to become significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
