Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will exist in wind sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations will be in sheltered summit gullies and on steeper scarp slopes above 850 metres with a North-West through North to Easterly aspect. Greatest instabilities will be where deep accumulations form on the older existing snowpack. Fragile cornices above these aspects will be prone to collapse. Where exposed, the older snowpack at higher levels may be firm and icy in places. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers overnight and through Friday will affect slopes above 850 metres. Winds will be moderate to fresh South to South-Westerly. The freezing level overnight will be around 800 metres rising to 1100 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: New snow fell overnight above 700 metres. It has been mainly dry and milder today. Winds have become light to moderate variable. The freezing level is now hovering around the higher summits. ObservedSnowStability: Drifting at higher levels has formed areas of marginally bonded windslab on steeper slopes. Greatest accumulations are in summit gully exits and around corrie headwalls with a North-West through North to Easterly aspect mainly above 850 metres. Fragile cornices exist above some of these areas. Elsewhere the snowpack is generally stable and is becoming moist with rising day time temperatures. Triggered cornice collapse recorded today, North aspect at 850 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
