At the upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of slab one to two feet deep on very steep, wind loaded slopes. If mostly clear skies persist into the afternoon, these slides will become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects. At the mid elevations, avalanche activity is limited to isolated pockets of slab less than a foot deep in very steep terrain. The snowpack is mostly stable at the lower elevations and avalanches are unlikely.

The first in a series of fast moving Pacific troughs will come through the region tonight bringing two to four inches of new snow by tomorrow afternoon. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the mid teens rising to near 30 during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will veer to the west at 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Sunday. At the higher elevations, backcountry travelers have a small possibility of triggering isolated pockets of surface slab up to 18 inches deep in very steep, wind loaded terrain. The snowpack at the lower elevations is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely.
