Tetons
Avalanche danger
Highlights
Areas of unstable snow exist. At the mid and upper elevations strong southwest winds have formed new surface slabs up to two feet in depth on leeward aspects. These slabs could be triggered by skiers or riders who venture onto steep slopes and into cliff areas. Evaluate the snow and terrain carefully and use good travel habits. At the lower elevations colder temperatures have mitigated the potential for wet slides to occur. Isolated pockets of soft surface slab up to ten inches in depth could be human triggered in very steep avalanche starting zones. --------- Tonight's 6 PM showing of the latest epic Tele-centric film at the 3rd Annual Targhee Telemark Festival at Grand Targhee Resort will benefit this avalanche center.
