Avalanche Summary

You could trigger a small avalanche in recently wind-drifted snow at upper elevations. Look for signs of recent wind loading, such as pillows of snow or a striated snow surface in gullies and couloir features that catch and hold wind-drifted snow. Think about the consequences of a small avalanche before you commit to riding in steep terrain. Unfortunately, the spots that have enough snow to ride are the spots where you could trigger an avalanche.
