Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are generally safe from avalanches due to a lack of continuous snow coverage. If you were to trigger an avalanche, it would be in a pocket of firm wind-drifted snow on a steep slope above treeline that faces north or northeast. Give a wide berth to stiff, hollow-sounding snow on slopes steeper than 35 degrees to avoid triggering a small avalanche. Even a small slide could become dangerous in the wrong terrain.
