Strong winds are drifting recent snow onto northerly and easterly-facing slopes near and above treeline keeping avalanche conditions dangerous. If you trigger an avalanche, it can break on weak snow near the ground creating a large and destructive slide that will be difficult to escape. You can trigger avalanches from adjacent slopes or from below so plan your routes and safe spots accordingly. Cracking and collapsing may not be present before an avalanche breaks. Traveling on lower-angle or wind-sheltered terrain will increase your safety margin.
