You can trigger dangerous avalanches on most slopes near and above treeline. Avalanches will be largest, and you could trigger them from a distance, on northerly-facings slopes that had snow cover before this storm. There is enough storm snow that avalanches are likely on previously bare slopes, too. Shooting cracks, whumpfing collapses, or tiny avalanches on cut banks indicate dangerous snow conditions.
