Avalanche Summary

The few places you may be able to trigger an avalanche are on north and northeast slopes, where drifted snow sits over old snow. Look for and assess areas of deeper or stiffer snow, especially in steep, shady, rocky terrain. If you trigger an avalanche, it will be small, but even a small avalanche can lead to a short, unforgiving ride through shallow rocks.
