Highlights

The General Avalanche Hazard remains MODERATE. Soft surface slabs up to one foot in depth formed by west-southwest, west, northwest, north, northeast and east winds exist. These slabs lie upon an unstable base of weak faceted snow. On Wednesday skiers remotely triggered a slab to the ground on an east-southeasterly aspect at an elevation of 10,100 feet on East Angle Mountain. Similar events could be triggered today especially by snowmachines.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies are expected to be partly cloudy. A slight chance of post frontal snow showers will last until Friday afternoon. Temperatures will drop to near zero Thursday night and rise into the teens in the mountains on Friday. The northeast winds will relax and became light and variable.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE on Friday. Skiers and riders could trigger soft surface slabs 6 to 18 inches deep on steep wind loaded aspects. The potential persist for humans especially those on snowmachines to trigger dangerous deep slabs on very steep slopes underlain by weak faceted snow.
