Avalanches are unlikely today on the shallow snowpack that exists at the mid and upper elevations where a light amount of new snow lies upon hard crusts or faceted snow including surface hoar on shaded and northerly aspects. Avalanches will not occur at low elevatons where a trace of new snow lies directly upon the ground.
