Highlights
A sensitive, unstable snowpack exists at the mid and upper elevations where soft surface slabs to two feet in depth lie upon faceted snow and hard crusts. These slabs have been easily triggered by backcountry users on steep, wind loaded avalanche slopes and upon approach. Do not underestimate the consequences of these avalanche conditions where relatively small slides can be easily triggered. At low elevations avalanches are unlikely within the shallow snowpack.
