Thursday: As a consequence of sharply falling temperatures, snowfall and the wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed. Where the wind action was less intense, on the other hand it mainly eroded and sublimated the snow. In some localities the wind slabs will increase in size moderately on Friday. Especially wind-loaded slopes gullies and bowls: The small quantity of fresh snow of yesterday and very particularly the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases. Backcountry touring calls for caution and restraint. During the day: As a consequence of solar radiation small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are to be expected.

5 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, fell on Thursday above approximately 2000 m. The wind was strong to storm force. The wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Over a wide area snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Towards its surface, the snowpack is soft and has a loosely bonded surface. This applies in places that are protected from the wind. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes.

The meteorological conditions will facilitate a gradual strengthening of the near-surface layers in particular on sunny slopes.
