Forecast Weather Influences: Snowfall, arriving overnight, above 600 metres initially, will be heaviest after daybreak until mid-morning above 850 metres. The winds will be mainly strong South-South-Westerly, later veering West-South-Westerly. 600 metre freezing level overnight, rising briefly to 850 metres during the morning, lowering back down to 600 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: After a bright start, cloud quickly built up with light snow showers above 750 metres by early afternoon. Winds were fresh Westerly, easing as they backed to become moderate South-Westerly. The freezing level rose to around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Moderately to weakly bonded windslab is present in wind sheltered locations on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres with gully tops and steeper corrie rims most affected. Moderately bonded snow is present just below this altitude and occasionally on isolated North-West aspects above 900 metres. Wind exposed slopes are scoured and firm.
