Forecast Snow Stability: Moderately bonded windslab will be present in wind sheltered locations on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Gully tops and steep corrie rims are likely to be most affected. Wind exposed locations will be scoured with very firm surface layers. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Very light snow showers during the early evening, then dry throughout the rest of the period. 450 metre freezing level overnight, gradually rising through the day to reach 1100 metres, then spiking at the end of the afternoon to just above all summits. Strong Westerly winds overnight, backing and easing to become fresh Southerly. Observed Weather Influences: Early evening snowfall eventually turned to rain below approximately 1000 metres as the freezing level rose to around 1100 metres. With the freezing level rapidly lowering after midnight, there were isolated light snow showers above 600 metres through the rest of the period. Storm force North-Westerly winds for a time overnight, severe gale force Westerlies over the high summits during the day. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of unstable windslab are present on mainly North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Areas most affected are steeper, wind sheltered features such as gully tops and around sharply defined corrie rims. Wind exposed locations are scoured with firm surface layers. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
