Mount Shasta

LOW avalanche danger will continue for the weekend on Mount Shasta. While our early season snowpack fades, decent snow for skiing can still be found above ~7,500 feet on the big mountain. Continue to be mindful of hidden obstacles in the snow. For climbers...firm, slide-for-life snow conditions exist on the upper mountain and as always, be watchful for falling rock. All other zones within the forecast area lack enough snow for recreation.

The main concern on Mount Shasta is hidden obstacles for skiers and rock fall and slide-for-life conditions for climbers. Bring an ice axe, a helmet, and crampons if ascending high into the alpine. Know how to use your equipment.
