Glacier.
Loose, facetted snow is flowing fast in steep, alpine terrain. Manage your sluff accordingly to avoid getting bowled off your feet.
Cornices are rotting out from their bases due to the cold temps. Be suspicious and give 'em a wide berth.
Cloudy with light flurries the next few days.
Today: mainly cloudy with iso. flurries, trace snow, Alp high -9*C, light S winds
Thurs: Cloudy with flurries, 7cm snow, Alp high -6*C, light/mod SW winds
Fri: Cloud with isolated flurries, trace snow, Alp high -6*C, light/mod SW winds
Sat: Cloudy, scattered flurries, 5cm, Alp high -9*C, light/mod SW winds
Little change, other than continued facetting and softening of previous wind effect from extreme southerly winds. Cold-weakened cornices loom over larger alpine objectives. Surface hoar growth has been observed in the alpine. Steep solar slopes, tilted S-SW, have a thin sun crust. Low density snow (good skiing) persists in sheltered areas.
There has been no avalanche activity reported in the Rogers Pass area in the last couple of days. Field teams and the public have reported dry, loose sluffing in steep terrain.
Cornices continue to facet and weaken with the cold temps. These, along with glide cracks, are the outliers that could fail without warning. Don't linger underneath either.
