Regions

Lizard-Flathead, South Rockies, Akamina, Bull, Crowsnest North, Crowsnest South, Elkford East, Elkford West.

These are great conditions for exploring more complex terrain.

Carefully evaluate any steep, consequential lines for lingering pockets of wind slab that could knock you off your feet.

Confidence

Moderate

  • We are uncertain about forecast snowfall amounts.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches have been reported.

If you are getting out in the backcountry, please share your observations on the Mountain Information Network! You don't have to see an avalanche or dig in the snow to have useful observations - even weather and riding conditions are helpful, especially when you include photos!

Snowpack Summary

A dusting of new snow falls over a variety of surfaces; wind-pressed snow in high elevation lees, crust on south aspects and low elevations, and soft faceted snow topped with small surface hoar crystals in sheltered areas.

The remainder of the snowpack is well consolidated, containing a number of crusts which do not present concerns at this time.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • The snowpack is generally stable; it may be appropriate to step out into more complex terrain.
  • Wind slabs are isolated, but may remain reactive.
  • Small avalanches can have serious consequences in extreme terrain. Carefully evaluate your line for slabs before you commit to it.
