Forecast Snow Stability: Some areas of moderately bonded windslab will remain on North to East aspects above 900 metres. This will slowly consolidate. Minor surface wet snow instabilities will exist on steep slopes exposed to the strong sunshine. Remaining cornices prone to collapse in the mild conditions, particularly where exposed to the strong sunshine. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain settled with long sunny periods through the day. Summit temperatures will be just above freezing. Winds will be from the South-East. Observed Weather Influences: A very pleasant sunny day. After a cool night the freezing level rose above the summit through the day. Strengthening winds were from the South. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is quite variable. There are areas of moderately bonded windslab mainly on North to East aspects about 900 metres. This is slowly consolidating in the settled conditions. In other areas the snowpack was firm and icy in the morning, softening during the afternoon. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
