Forecast Snow Stability: Redistribution of existing snow this evening will deposit unstable windslab mainly on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. During the day further redistribution will deposit unstable windslab mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Accumulations of windslab gaining depth are not expected to be extensive, but where they do will be weak. Fresh cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong Northerly winds this evening will become moderate South-Westerly overnight before strengthening to strong during the day and veering Westerly. It is expected to be dry until the end of the afternoon when there will be a little snow above 1100 metres. The freezing level will be around 600 metres overnight, rising steadily during the day to around 1200 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After some overnight precipitation falling as snow above around 700 metres it was a mainly dry day. Winds were light mainly North-Westerly. The freezing level was around 850 metres. ObservedSnowStability: There is a covering of fresh snow on all aspects above around 750 metres. New windslab has been deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on East aspects above 1050 metres. Accumulations gaining depth are not extensive. Fresh cornices are fragile. The old snowpack is generally stable and its exposed surface has refrozen. The avalanche hazard is Low.
