Forecast Snow Stability: The well bonded patchy snow will start to refreeze becoming firmer during the day, particularly around the highest summits. Greatest amounts of snow will be found in North to East facing corries and around the higher tops of the main Cairngorms. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: A cloudy but dry day is expected. Becoming cooler overnight with the freezing level around 700 metres at dawn, lifting to 900 metres by afternoon. Winds initially moderate North-Easterlies but easing and veering to the East in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Extensive hill cloud with intermittent rainfall throughout the day. Winds were moderate from the East. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack continues to slowly thaw but is well bonded and stable throughout. Greatest amounts are found above 900 metres and are generally restricted to North to East aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
