Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of unstable windslab will develop during the day mainly on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Features such as gullies, corrie rims and ridge flanks will be particularly affected. Fragile cornices will form above these aspects. The older snowpack will be firm and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: After a mainly dry night precipitation during the day will fall as snow above around 800 metres. Southerly gales overnight veer and ease to become strong South-Westerlies during the day. Freezing level dropping from above the summits to around 900 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Around dawn the freezing level rose above the summits. There was some light rain and strong South-South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is firm and stable in all locations. Some softening of the surface occurred during the day. The avalanche hazard is Low.
