Avalanche Summary
If you were to trigger an avalanche, it would be small. The most likely place to trigger a slide is where firm, wind-drifted snow sits above weak snow. Avoid slopes that feel stiff, sound hollow, or crack underneath you.
Loose avalanches are more likely where the snowpack is fully cohesionless. Avoid steep slopes where you sink to the ground. You can find safer and more enjoyable backcountry travel on slopes protected from the wind.
