Avalanche danger
Highlights
On shaded aspects above 9,000 feet, backcountry travelers might be able trigger slabs to two feet in depth in very steep, active avalanche paths. Elsewhere, avalanches are unlikely in the shallow early season snowpack.
Avalanche Discussion
Cold air will be deeply entrenched by Monday morning with mountain temperatures near -10 and valley lows in the negative teens. Skies will clear as high pressure builds over the region. Northerly ridgetop winds will range from 5 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE on shaded slopes above 9000 feet. There, backcountry travelers might be able to trigger slabs to two feet in depth in very steep, active avalanche paths. Elsewhere, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW and avalanches are unlikely.
