Avalanche Summary

Wet Slab avalanches are hard to anticipate. Giving yourself a wide safety buffer around steep, rocky terrain with shallow snow on slopes near and above treeline is the easiest way to avoid the issues. On Saturday, a skier was caught and injured in a wet avalanche in the Tenmile Range on a west-facing near treeline slope.

Avoid traveling on steep slopes where you are sinking more than about 10 inches into slurpee-like snow or breaking through a thin crust into wet, cohesionless snow. Move to low-angle terrain before you bog down in that wet snow.
