The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE and will rise during the day as addition snow and wind continue to load starting zones. Surface slabs ranging in depth from 1 to 3 feet lie atop suncrusts and buried surface hoar, and could be easily triggered or release naturally. On Friday, a skier was killed in the backcountry south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort after being sweep over a cliff band by a similar slide. These slabs still have the potential of stepping down to persistent deeper instabilities. Avalanche knowledge and excellent route finding skills are essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain today.

Strong Westerly ridgetop winds at 25 to 35 mph and light snowfall of 2 to 4 inches are expected to continue on Monday.
