Avalanche Summary

You can trigger small avalanches in higher-elevation wind-effected areas. Look for signs of recent wind loading, such as smooth rounded pillows of snow, small cornices below ridgelines, or cracking in the snow surface to indicate potential danger. Avoid slopes steeper than about 30 degrees if you see any of these warning signs. Most avalanches will be small but may still grow large enough to knock you down and send you for a dangerous ride.
