You can trigger an avalanche that breaks on weak snow buried two to three feet deep or on newly drifted snow from Monday's snowstorm. Even a small avalanche on a wind-drifted slope on the lee side of a ridgeline can step down to weaker snow several feet deep and grow large enough to bury you. Avoid wind-drifted slopes below fresh cornices, rock outcrops, and convex rollovers to reduce your chances of triggering an avalanche.
