At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger dense surface slabs up to two feet deep in very steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. These slides, along with shallow wet loose sluffs, will become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects if mostly clear skies prevail in the afternoon. Evaluate the snow and terrain carefully and use good travel habits. The snowpack is mostly stable at the lower elevations and avalanches are unlikely.

A Pacific low pressure system off the northwest coast will bring moisture into the region tonight and Tuesday resulting in increased cloud cover and light, scattered snow showers. Mountain temperatures will be in near 30 with the valleys a little warmer. Southwest Ridgetop winds will increase overnight to 20 to 30 miles per hour before decreasing to near 20 Tuesday afternoon.The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain MODERATE on Tuesday.
