Avalanche Summary

An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Grand and Battlement Mesas. A significant storm will impact the area starting Tuesday evening. Very dangerous avalanche conditions are expected by Wednesday afternoon. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.

For Tuesday, you can easily trigger small avalanches on most slopes that face west through north to southeast directions. Most of these avalanches will be small and only concerning if there is a terrain trap such as a creek or a cliff below you where the consequences of even a small avalanche can be severe. Before you travel on any steep slope consider the consequences of a small avalanche knocking you over and taking you for a ride down that slope.
