Strong southwest to west winds and new snowfall has created new soft surface slabs in the backcountry. At the high elevations, skiers and riders have the potential to trigger these slabs in steep wind loaded terrain to depth of one foot. In some very steep areas the possibility to trigger deeper slabs to three foot depths persists. At the mid elevations, shallow surface slabs could be triggered and avalanches at low elevations are unlikely today.

Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies on Saturday with a chance for some light, scattered snow showers. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the low to mid teens before rising into the upper 20s during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds overnight will veer to the west at 10 to 20 miles per hour by tomorrow.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be MODERATE above 9,000 feet. There, backcountry travelers could trigger slabs one to two feet deep in steep, wind loaded terrain. Below 9,000 feet, the General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW; the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely.
