Highlights

Wet snow continues to be unstable on very steep slopes and in cliff areas. New snow will fall upon wet old snow surfaces. Wet loose slides and large wet slab avalanches could be human triggered in steep terrain. Once triggered these slides could step down to deeper layers. Areas of rain are possible and could increase the wet slide hazard in those areas. Avoid steep terrain where the underlying snow is soft and wet.

Wet loose slides could be triggered by humans in very steep terrain and cliff areas. These slides may begin as shallow surface snow and then entrain deeper layers of snow. These slides could trigger deeper wet slab avalanches.

Some potential remains for humans to trigger deep wet slab avalanches in very steep upper elevation avalanche paths. These slabs could have depths from two to four feet and step down to the ground.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies will remain cloudy with rain and snow shower activity increasing overnight and into the day. Several inches of new snow accumulation is likely at the higher elevations. Over half an inch of rain is possible at the mid and lower elevations. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to mid-30s at the upper elevations and in the mid to upper 30s at the mid and lower elevations. Winds will west to southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.Wet snow continues to be unstable in very steep terrain and in cliff areas. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Wet slides will continue to be a hazard during the next 24 hours. Avoid cornices and steep terrain when the snow is soft and wet.
