Highlights

The general avalanche hazard for Mid and Upper elevations is HIGH today. Strong Southsouthwest winds and new snow overnight have created considerable wind loading on lee aspects. Several natural and human triggered avalanches to four and a half feet in depth ran yesterday near the Targhee ski resort, Grand Teton National Park and the Teton Pass area. With the additional snow and wind the avalanche danger has increased. Slides are travelling on the early season crust and layers within the new snow. Travel in avalanche terrain should be avoided today. The general avalanche hazard at low elevations is LOW today but avoid steep areas, road cuts and terrain traps.
