Small wet-snow avalanches due to rainfall and warmth

Low avalanche danger prevails by and large. Due to warmth and rain impact, wet slides and small avalanches continue to be possible at low altitudes in all aspects and, on steep grassy slopes, small glide-snow avalanches.

The generally shallow snowpack is thoroughly wet up to intermediate altitudes, thus continues to forfeit its firmness. Sunny slopes and lower altitude terrain are becoming bare of snow.

Thursday night: heavy cloud cover, brisk westerly winds until midnight, often intensive rainfall. As a result of milder air masses, the snowfall level will ascend to 1800-2000m. Friday: a warm front will bring instable, stormy and very mild mountain weather. Visibility will be severely limited by clouds, fog and intense precipitation, most of which is expected in the Bregenzerwald and Arlberg regions. Snowfall level will lie at 2000 m. Temperature at 2000 m: +2 degrees. Stormy westerly winds at high altitude.

Slopes are becoming bare of snow. Only on slopes where there have been not discharges, small wet-snow and glide-snow avalanches continue to be possible. On Saturday the snowfall level will descend to 1700-1400 m. Avalanche danger will continue to remain low.
