Forecast Snow Stability: The will be the potential for drifting snow at plateau levels. Localised accumulations of new unstable windslab will develop on North-West to North-East aspects, especially around the tops of gullies and coire rims. Instabilities will persist within old windslab accumulations on steep and convex, South-East through South-West to North-West aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be very cold and dry over the forecast period, with light, occasionally moderate, Southerly winds. Freezing at all levels. Observed Weather Influences: The fog gradually lifted by midday to leave a sunny afternoon. Winds were very light, variable, and it was freezing at all levels. ObservedSnowStability: A blanket of snow lies on all aspects and altitudes, this has become firm and in places, eroded where its been exposed to recent winds at plateau level. The most recent windslab accumulations are beginning to consolidate; however snowpack instabilities remain on South-East through South-West to North-West aspects mainly above 900 metres. Areas mostly affected are in steep and convex terrain, such as gully tops and flanks, crag aprons and coire rims. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
