Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will develop through the period with greatest accumulations on North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres. West and East aspects will also be affected due to cross loading. Fresh, fragile cornices will develop. The older snowpack will remain well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Southerly gales ease in the afternoon. Showers throughout the period falling as snow above around 800 metres overnight and 500 metres during the day. The freezing level drops to around 700 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: There were strong Southerly winds and occasional light showers falling as snow above around 900 metres. The freezing level was around 1050 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well bonded and stable. Isolated accumulations of unstable winds are present in wind sheltered locations mainly on North-West to North East aspects above 1100 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
