Avalanche Activity

At elevated altitudes the avalanche prone locations are more widespread and the danger is level 2 (moderate).

Above approximately 1500 m snow has fallen. The fresh snow of the last two days and in particular the mostly small wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas in particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies in particular on very steep slopes. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is deposited on bare ground over a wide area. This applies in particular on sunny slopes, as well as at low and intermediate altitudes. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. The old snowpack remains generally stable.
